At the end of last year, the AQS solicited quilt submissions from guilds in the mid-Atlantic region (NY, NJ, PA & DE). for exhibit at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY to run from Jan. 16th to Mar. 10th, 2009. Sandy Ernst submitted two quilts for consideration and the Starburst quilt was selected to be one of thirty on display at the special exhibit named "Quilts of the Mid-Atlantic." Many Congratulations to Sandy for this special recognition!!

South Shore Stitchers Flannel Raggy Quilt Raffle winner - Merry May

The Flannel Raggy Quilt Raffle winner is ... Merry May! Tickets for the quilt, made by Doris Foglio, Peggy Long and Barbara Meany, were sold at the Nov. and Dec. guild meetings.

2009 Quilt Show Dates Set
Show Notes:

The Guild has initiated planning for the next Quilt Show for Oct. 2009.
The Show title will be "Quilting Memories ... Connecting the Past with the Present and Future."
The 2009 Quilt Show location will be the Upper Twp. Community Center on Route 50.
Mark your calendars! - Oct. 16, 17 & 18, 2009.

South Shore Stitchers Quilt Raffle ticket sellers at the Ocean City Fall Block Party were Guild members LeFaye Yurick, left, and Pam Yoos. Other SSS members helping with the raffle ticket sales were Mary Alice Campanaro, Ginny Cooper, Anne Lovell and Dottie Greto. Pictured in background is the smaller sized wall hanging using the same pattern as the Queen Size raffle quilt. Tickets are on sale now for the drawing to be held in November 2009.

2008 Vermont Quilt Festival Pictures

Guild member Ginny Cooper, with Shirley Banks - Chairman of the 2008 Vermont Quilt Festival (VQF) and SSS Guild member.

Ginny received a 2nd Place Ribbon (Small pieced wall hangings) and the rose at the VQF Champagne and Chocolate Awards Ceremony and Show Preview, Thursday night, June 26th.

Pam Yoos, Ginny Cooper and Sandy Knorr at the Awards Night. Pam and Sandy were at the Vermont Quilt Festival to attend some of the many workshops offered during the Quilt Show.

Merry May's One Woman Show

The current exhibit at the Down Jersey Folklife Center at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center at Wheaton Arts (Village) in Millville features South Shore Stitchers Guild member, Merry May.

Show Title - "Folk Art Collections II: Mysteries and Histories: Quilts from the Collection of Merry May."

Some pieces in the exhibition are antique blocks and quilts from Merry's collection and others in the exhibition are pieced and quilted by Merry.

Merry is shown here with just three of the quilts she made that are exhibited in the Folklife Center's exhibition. The show runs through March 31, 2008.

Maddy's Lecture - We have been invited to attend Debbie's lecture and truck show as guests of Camaco Quilters, on Wed., April 9th at 6;30 pm. The location is the Millman Center, 209 Bayshore Road, Villas. The cost for non-Cameco members will be $10/person. (We are sharing some of Debbie's expenses with Cameco Quilts.)

The 7th Annual AppleFest 2007, held at the John Wesley Gandy Farmstead in Upper Twp., Cape May Co., was held Sunday, Oct.7th. South Shore Stitchers member Joyce Bashew was on hand to promote the Quilt Guild's hand quilted raffle quilt "Stars Over The Oregon Trail."

Quilt For Sale - Guild members Faye Wasleski and Doris Foglio have made a special children's (I Spy) quilt that will be on sale at the Quilt Show. Proceeds will benefit the Guild’s Charity Workshop.
