Slice of Art Contributors
Sixteen South Shore Stitchers guild
members contributed 15 slices to Ginny Cooper’s Slice of Art Project.
Ginny sewed the slices together into a quilt top and quilted it. The
quilt (36”x60”) is an exact size copy of Roy Lichtenstein’s 1961
painting – “Girl With Ball” that hangs in MoMA in NYC.

Enchanted
Jean Tribulski
2009
|
|

The "Enchanted"quilt with the Kachina men
is for my grandson Marcus and is
called "Enchanted".
Marcus was born and spent his
early years in New Mexico and
that is the main reason I chose
the southwest Indian theme.
Rosemary Banks is the
longarm quilter that I used for
both quilts. She considers this
custom work since I submitted
most of the
quilt designs to her and
then she works out the sizing
and flow of the designs. The central
design of the Kachina men is
from a book called Quilts
without Corners by Cheryl
Phillips. The center design is
a circle made by sewing together
10 degree wedges. Since I
wanted a
bed quilt, not a wall
quilt, corner sections were
added to the circle to square it
and then an extra border at the
top and bottom to make a
queen size rectangle.
The layout of the quilt was done
on EQ6.

Music Man
Jean Tribulski
20094
|
|

The "Music Man" quilt with a music
theme is for my grandson
Peter whose passion is music.
Peter plays several musical
instruments and during high
school was in 6 different
bands/orchestras. He has his
own rock band and is
lead guitar and singer. He plays
bass guitar and sometimes
drums in two other rock bands.
He was in the
school marching band
playing trumpet, the school
orchestra and
string quartet playing
bass.
I found some fabric
that had multiple instruments
and designed a quilt on EQ6 with
blocks that I could
appliqué
the instruments in the centers.
Longarm quilter Rosemary Banks took my idea of musical
notes and a few bars of music
for the one border.
